Sailing Theory & Seamanship

Did you know that you can make a sail less powerful without changing or reefing it and without simply letting the sheet off? This course amongst many other things shows you how.
If you have not sailed before this course will give you the knowledge to start your on water lessons with confidence. If you have already started your practical sailing this course will fill in the reasons why things happen and are done a particular way.
The course is split into 6 Parts as follows:
- Part 1 - Getting to know the boat; rope work; winches; blocks and tackles; basic stability
- Part 2 - Sail theory; shaping and trimming; weather and wind
- Part 3 - Tide and waves; safety; anchoring
- Part 4 - Right of way; lights and buoyage; compass theory
- Part 5 - Basic navigation
- Part 6 - Examination
An Assessment paper for each Part is completed and returned for marking.
The course fee is $198 and includes a Certificate of Attainment and ISSA Log book.
A partners discount applies with a total course fee for both of $264.

The attainment levels for the Inshore/Coastal Skipper Shorebased Course Certificate theory component are:
- Up to 60% Introductory
- 60% to 74% Competent Crew
- over 75% Inshore Skipper
