Sail & Spinnaker Trimming
This module builds on the Sail Theory & Seamanship Course. But it is also a stand-alone course for those sailors that have experience but wish to know more of the technicality of the dynamics of how sails and spinnakers work.
The basic aerodynamics of sails and spinnakers in simple language are discussed. The controls that shape sails are covered in detail particularly the basic shapes needed for wind conditions and the techniques of trimming the spinnaker pole
What the 'telltails' tell you is analysed and the simple rules for trimming the sails to the telltails are given.
Refresh your knowledge or get new understanding of things that you have been doing but not really knowing why.
The course includes an Assessment and separate Exam paper, both of which are 'open book'. These can be returned for assessment by E-mail if you choose.
The course fee includes marking; answer and prompt sheets and log book endorsement and is $84.70 incl GST
On receipt of your cheque, credit card details or Internet Bank transfer, the text manual will be dispatched.
Course completion is awarded with a Certificate of Attainment. The cost of a log book is not included in the course fee but can be provided on request.
